Four Expansions in Eight Years
Southern Indiana Power and Hoosier Energy help Indiana business grow
This story begins in the year 2000, in Tell City, located in southern Indiana. A local manufacturer announced it was shutting down, but economic development officials had another company lined up in less than a month to move into the facility.
Automotive Company Supplier Expands into Facility
ATTC Manufacturing Inc. is Toyota’s supplier of brake drums, rotors and differential cases for all of North America. After its start up in the Perry County Industrial Park South in 2000, ATTC recently completed its fourth expansion, a 90,000-square-foot addition to its existing plant. Including this latest project, ATTC has created nearly 400 Indiana jobs.
Powering ATTC’s Indiana Business Expansion
Rapid growth means rapidly increasing need for electricity, and Southern Indiana Power, the local electric utility and a member of the Hoosier Energy power network, has been there for ATTC, powering every expansion. This latest project was no exception.
“We did install a new dedicated substation primarily for this load and also for the industrial park,” said Don Etienne, manager of member and corporate services for Southern Indiana Power. “We’re now in the process of installing a loop feed, a redundant system to prevent outages.”
Southern Indiana Power has been a great partner in the county’s effort to spur economic growth in the industrial park, said Carol Hagedorn, project manager for the Perry County Development Corp., the local economic development organization.
Southern Indiana Power: Ready to Power Your Business
A company like ATTC depends heavily on reliable electrical power and the new substation is going to make a huge difference for them. And since the
Perry County Industrial Park South, located along Indiana State Road 37 about 16 miles south of Interstate 64, has received shovel-ready status for a 90-acre parcel of land just behind ATTC, the additional electrical capacity will help attract new business to the park, she said.
“Hoosier Energy and Southern Indiana Power really stepped up to the plate,” Hagedorn said.
There are 150 acres available in the park and Southern Indiana Power is able to provide 7.5 megawatts of electrical capacity to meet the needs of future development.
Southern Indiana Power has worked hard to improve the industrial park for future tenants and has been highly responsive in meeting their growing company’s needs, said Dave Stagnolia, human resources manager at ATTC. “Those guys have been phenomenal.”
